What a wonderful tribute to your grandmother, and a lovely way to honour her at her funeral. It's always amazing to me how the smells and sounds of childhood stay with us forever - I always associate the scents of Pears soap, cologne and the loam from freshly-picked garden vegetables in her kitchen, with my grandmother. Her whole house had a distinctive smell - all clean and scrubbed and earthy - that I've never experienced anywhere else. If I close my eyes now I can remember it. Love, R xxx

Thank you. I have a sound memory from her too. When I would go visit her in Sarasota, there would always be mourning doves to wake us up. I never heard them at home, so I've always connected that sound with her. As I got older and learned to listen, I would hear them at home. But the memory still reminds me of that mobile home park in Sarasota.

What a great entry! Smells stay with us forever - and help identify our place in people's hearts and minds. What a blessing she was for you, and I can say you for her as well. Peace and blessings, Paula
